Yoga for Children

Our Youth Yoga Classes currently take place at The Ennis Yoga Studio on Saturdays. These classes are booked in blocks of 6 to 10 weeks and follow the school term. If a block of classes has started and you wish to make a booking to join the classes please ring 0860834664.

1:00pm-1:45pm (4-6 years)
2:15pm-3:00m (7-9 years)
3:30pm-4:15pm (10-12 years)

Price for a block of 6 classes x 45 minute yoga classes is €60

Classes for 4-6 Years - 1:00pm-1:45pm

4 - 6 years old enjoying yoga classes

The emphasis of this class is on Fun, Fun and Fun. We encourage self-expression to build confidence as well as social skills. While having a great time, children will strengthen their bodies, improve their flexibility and learn how to focus through breathing and relaxation techniques.

Each class consists of settling in through basic breath work and meditation, engaging and age appropriate warm ups or sun salutations, yoga poses (often presented in an adventure story) a yoga game and a relaxation or visualisation. Children will soon know sun salutations and yoga poses to practice at home.

Children should wear comfortable clothing and bring their own yoga mat, blanket and a bottle of water.

Classes for 7-9 Years - 2:15pm-3:00pm

7 - 9 years old enjoying yoga classes

This yoga class will help children to improve their strength, flexibility, and coordination. Children will learn how to focus and centre themselves with various breathing techniques. They will also learn self-respect and respect for others while practicing yoga and meditation.

Each class consists of settling in through basic breath work and mindfulness and meditation, engaging and age appropriate warm ups or sun salutations, fun and challenging yoga poses (sometimes presented in an adventure story) a yoga game and a relaxation or visualisation. Children will soon know sun salutations and yoga poses to practice at home.

Children should wear comfortable clothing and bring their own yoga mat, blanket and a bottle of water.

Classes for 10-12 Years - 3:30pm-4:15pm

10 -12 years old enjoying yoga classes

In this yoga class children will build strength and flexibility with more physically challenging poses and sequences. Self-confidence, self-love and compassion for others are promoted and encouraged. Visualisation, meditation and breathing techniques are used to enhance focus, concentration and will help in any stressful situation. These techniques, once learned, can be used when needed day to day. Age-appropriate yoga games, partner poses or group poses are sometimes included in this class depending on the needs of the individuals in class.

Each class consists of settling in through breath work, mindfulness and meditation, engaging and age appropriate warm ups or sun salutations, fun and challenging yoga poses and a relaxation or visualisation. Children will soon know sun salutations, yoga poses, breathing techniques and meditations to practice at home.

Children should wear comfortable clothing (leggings or tracksuit bottoms and a top that allows for ease of movement)

Children should also bring their own yoga mat, blanket, eye cushion if desired and a bottle of water.
