Yoga for Schools

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic yoga classes will be delivered in person following all safety guidelines and advised safety measures.

  • Weekly Yoga for Teenagers sessions covering PE and SPHE Curriculum areas.
  • 60 minute yoga classes with mats provided for a class of up to 30 students.
  • Providing tailor-made yoga programmes for each school's needs.
  • Namaste Youth Yoga certificate presented to each participant on completion of the programme.

A teenager's life can be very stressful sometimes due to exam pressure, the negative aspects of social media, the worry of COVID-19 and other issues. Yoga helps in maintaining a calm nature. Teenagers who practice yoga will learn breathing and relaxation techniques to help them deal with stressful situations.

The emphasis for Youth Yoga Classes for teenagers in Secondary Schools is on stress relief, self-love, self-care, compassion, building confidence, building strength and flexibility and promoting wellness. While having a good time each participant will be improving their flexibility, strength, balance, focus, concentration, imagination and will learn ways to manage stress in a safe, non-competitive environment. Classes will consist of age appropriate and engaging warm ups, sun salutations, breathing techniques, yoga poses, yoga sequences, yoga games, mindfulness, visualisation, meditation and relaxation. Teens will learn effective yogic tools to handle stress, anxiety, anger, depression, and other challenges facing teens today. These techniques, once learned, can be used when needed.

The act of practicing yoga poses and including attention to breath, encourages teenagers to clear their minds and focus on the effort involved. As a result, yoga will help to improve focus and concentration which is very beneficial to the student in the school setting.

Students who participate in yoga and meditation reap numerous and amazing benefits that will lead to a happier, more harmonious classroom setting and calmer atmosphere.

Incorporating yoga into your school's P.E. Programme will help in achieving The Active School Blue Flag and/or The Mental Health, Amber Flag.

Yoga is a wonderful way to relieve stress. It offers a safe place to connect with yourself, a chance to see what is important, what is necessary and what can be let go of. Teenagers who practice yoga, mindfulness, meditation and relaxation techniques will develop important skills for a lifetime of health and wellness in mind, body and spirit.
